The most appealing thing about the GTA games, and games like GTA,  is the level of freedom each game offers players. Even over a decade later, we’re still finding new things to do in GTA 5, but the game really opened up for us once we started messing around with cheats. This franchise is no stranger to cheat codes, with GTA San Andreas cheats being some of the most fun you can have with that game. The same can be said about GTA 5, but only if you know the codes.

Whether you just want to have a ton of fun with unlimited health and ammunition, or you’re seriously struggling with a certain section of the game, we’ve rounded up all the cheat codes available GTA 5 and tested them out ourselves in the open world on all platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC.

How to use GTA 5 cheats

There are a few ways to enter GTA 5 cheat codes. The first and easiest is to use your cellphone. You can open your cellphone by pressing Up on the D-pad. From there, enter the corresponding number, and the cheat will fire. You can also classically input cheats by following a specific button combination. The combinations are the same across PlayStation and Xbox, but we’ve split them up to account for their different button-naming conventions, so it should feel more natural reading and entering them.

There isn’t a money cheat in GTA 5, nor is there a working money generator. If you’re running low on cash in the game, there are legitimate ways to build a balance, such as completing missions, participating in heists, and using the in-game stock market to your advantage. You can also purchase “Shark Cards” with real-world money, which gives you in-game currency.

Oh hey, GTA 5 is back on PlayStation Plus this month

November's PlayStation Plus lineup is packed with games this month, both in terms of quality and quantity. However, with Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon (hopefully sometime next year), arguably the biggest addition is Grand Theft Auto 5, which is back on the subscription service after leaving earlier this year.

There's not much to say about GTA 5 that hasn't already been said. It's one of the bestselling games of all time and still holds up more than 10 years after release. It's likely you already own it on some platform, but if you somehow don't or just want to play it on the PlayStation 5 or 4, you can play it for free with an Extra or Premium subscription.

When the PlayStation 5 first launched back in November 2020, it was nearly impossible to get your hands on the highly anticipated console. Despite demand being through the roof, chip shortages heavily cut production -- and due to sustained consumer interest, it was a problem that plagued the PS5 for years after launch.
