Xbox Game Pass new games: what’s new and what’s leaving in April 2023

While Microsoft was been hit with criticism for the Xbox Series X’s slow-growing exclusive lineup — several highly anticipated titles like Bethesda’s Starfield and co-op shooter Redfall have been pushed to later in 2023 — the company is still delivering one of the best deals in gaming: Xbox Game Pass.

Game Pass gives gamers access to a massive library of games that includes throwback hits, brand-new titles on release day, and indie darlings. These games can be played on Xbox consoles, PC, mobile, and even Steam Deck.

New titles are being added to Game Pass every month and others are taken off, similar to how Netflix works, so it’s crucial to stay on top of library changes to make sure you don’t miss out on that title that’s been on your to-play list. Check back toward the end of every month for a complete list of new additions and removals from the Game Pass roster.

It’s a very involved real-time strategy experience with fully voice-acted cutscenes, a procedurally generated open world to explore, and lots of base-building and resource gathering that truly adapts Minecraft’s formula into another storied genre.

Xbox consoles, controllers, and games are about to get more expensive

Microsoft has just announced price increases across the globe for Xbox consoles and controllers, and the company also said some first-party titles might increase in price to $80 starting this holiday season. Unfortunately, it's not a small jump; the price for many console models increased by at least 20 percent.

The lowest-priced console, the Xbox Series S 512GB model, is moving from $300 to $380, while the Xbox Series X is increasing to $600 from $500. If you want to snag the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black SE model, start saving your pennies: it's now an unbelievable $730. Xbox controllers will now start at $65, while the Xbox Wireless Headset will start at $120. However, the Xbox Adaptive Controller will remain the same price.

If you have an LG TV, you might have received a major Xbox upgrade

If you've been debating buying an Xbox, you might want to think about upgrading your TV instead. Specific smart LG TVs just received the Xbox App, allowing gamers to stream games straight from the Internet without the need for a console. If you sign up for Xbox Game Pass, you can access hundreds of games in its cloud gaming catalog — and if through the Buy and Stream service, you can purchase certain games and play them, even if they aren't part of the Game Pass lineup.

There's a catch, though: you need to have a compatible LG TV for this to work. Xbox writes, "Available on LG TVs with webOS 24 or newer versions. This includes select 2022 and 2023 models which have been updated to software version 23.20.01 or higher, including 2022 OLED TVs, and 2023 OLED, QNED, Nanocell, and UHD TVs." The press release also states that LG smart monitors with webOS24 or later are also compatible.
