What’s hotter than a fire-breathing demon? This Doom-themed pizza

Xbox has partnered with Prince St. Pizza to offer a limited-time Doom-inspired pie baked “in brimstone and fury,” and in addition to being delicious, it provides a free skin and one month of Xbox Game Pass for hungry gamers. Anyone who purchases the Hellfire Pepperoni (yes, that’s the actual name of the pizza) will receive the timed-exclusive Doom Slayer Skin.

As for the pizza itself, make sure you have a drink handy. It’ll make your mouth as hot as if you were breathing in hellfire yourself, with smoked mozzarella, pepperoni, fresh habaneros, a drizzle of hot honey, and Prince St. Pizza’s special spicy marinara. Fans of spicy food will find themselves right at home with this dish, but it’s only available between May 12 and June 15 at any Prince St. Pizza location.

Unfortunately, the chain isn’t as widespread as we’d like — you can only find locations in New York, Miami, California, and Toronto.

In addition to the in-game bonuses, the pie comes in a limited-edition box and fans can go on the Prince St. Pizza website to get limited-edition Doom: The Dark Ages x Prince St. Pizza t-shirts.

Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal that maintains the same frenetic energy as the previous titles. It releases on May 15 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox’s next Developer Direct will spotlight Doom: The Dark Ages and more

Xbox has confirmed that another Developer_Direct will take place later this month, offering use new looks at games like Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Plus, we'll see a "brand new game" from a mystery studio sometime during the showcase.

January 2025's Developer_Direct will take place on official Xbox social media channels at 10 a.m. PT on January 23. It's the latest iteration of a type of showcase that Xbox began in 2023, which is meant to give us a deeper look at upcoming Xbox games and the studios behind them. Hi-Fi Rush famously shadow-dropped after the first Developer_Direct, and previous shows have also featured games like Indiana Jones and the Great Ciricle, Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport, Redfall, Avowed, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Visions of Mana, and Ara: History Untold.

4 big predictions for where video games are going in 2025

Well, 2024 is officially behind us -- and thank goodness for that. The last 12 months has been a constant roller coaster ride, taking the world through a series of unprecedented events. While the video game industry wasn't as quite as volatile as, say, the American political landscape, it was certainly a whirlwind year. Mass layoffs left tens of thousands without jobs, hyped-up games flopped, and harassment was on the rise. In between those headaches, we got a surprisingly strong year of unpredictable games like Balatro and Black Myth: Wukong.

That makes 2025 a little difficult to predict. We saw the best and worst of the industry last year, and it's unclear which side the needle will fall on by December 2025. Are things going to stabilize and give us a year with less layoffs and more great games? Or is the industry going to decay further, giving us more studio closures and big-budget flops?

I made 5 predictions for June’s gaming showcases. Here’s what I got right

At the start of June, I wrote about some of the announcements I'd like to see the video game industry make over the course of the month's showcases. Now, we're on the other end of reveal-filled events from Summer Game Fest, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and Ubisoft, and looking back, I had a surprisingly high hit rate. Some leaks turned out to be true, while one pipe dream prediction did come to fruition. Now that the biggest video game showcases of the summer are over, I'm practicing a bit of humility by looking back at what I predicted to see just how right or wrong I was. While I was spot on about three picks, I made two big whiffs.
The re-emergence of Metroid Prime 4: Correct

I had hoped that this summer would finally be the one where we saw Metroid Prime 4 in action; thankfully, that ended up happening. To conclude the latest Nintendo Direct, Retro Studios gave us our first glimpse of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The short but incredibly dense reveal trailer lived up to my expectations. It not only confirmed the title and release window but gave a look at gameplay as well. This first look indicates that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be one of the most graphically impressive Nintendo Switch games to date.
